From Pastor Karna …
Thanks for visiting our website. For the past eighteen years, it has been my joy to partner with the people of Immanuel in Pepin, a beautiful little village in the Mississippi bluff country. We are a congregation in the Lutheran tradition with the gift of individuals from many different faith backgrounds. This diversity creates melodies and harmonies that help all of us be a richer community together. We are a real community – saints and sinners — a congregation with strengths and weaknesses – clarity and questions. Again and again we’ve watched mission, call, and the power of the cross transform our community with great love – and that’s an incredible gift.
We are thankful for God’s grace-filled presence in worship, visits with friends at the hospital or care centers, during Bible study, at camp and on retreats, through Vacation Bible School, Faith Adventures, Confirmation, Christians in Action – or over a cup of coffee.
We are not on our own. It is our joy to partner with friends across town and across the world — the volunteers who serve at the Pepin Community Food Pantry and Community Café (housed in the lower level), Young Adults in Global Mission in Rwanda, Feed My Starving Children, and so many wonderful ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Please call or email if you would like to connect or learn more.
Pastor Karna Marks came to Immanuel in September of 2000. She has a Bachelor of Science from Moorhead State University, a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary, a certificate in Spiritual Direction, and studied with Brené Brown and faculty in San Antonio – becoming a Daring Way™ Facilitator. She is married to Steve Marks and they have two grown children, Dylan and Karolina. They love spending time with family and friends, riding their tandem bike, and reading good books.
